  • Project Settings

I would like to centralize settings for users and projects.
Project settings are stored in a .vprops file in the users roaming directory.
This .vprops is an XML file. Same format as an export from Sharing Settings (.XML extrension)

What I would like is having centralized default settings.
Example: Rendering Engine Settings per Quality.
You have to set this every project again.

Is there a way to have a .vprops (or XML) file that contains default settings for each project.

Next thing is I would like to store project settings together with the project.
    Rather then at user level.
When two (or more) users work on the same (workshared) Revit project they can have totally different Vray settings.

Are there ways to achieve this?

    Hi mjverbeek,

Thank you for the useful feedback! This issue is already listed in our database. As it is still in progress, a solution for it will come in any of our future releases.

    Some workaround suggestions:
    - delete the .vprops to reset to default settings
    - you can manually replace any .vprops file with another one but you need to keep the same name, i.e. have a .vprops, rename it to correspond to the project's .vprops file name, then replace it in the corresponding roaming directory

Saving V-Ray settings in the Revit file itself would cause an issue when multiple users are working on a workshared project, and are rendering using different V-Ray settings. Once they synchronize with central, they will inherit each other's settings, while their own will be overridden. For that reason, we are using an external file.

    I hope this helps.
